#2: You cannot just make any 6" cake and any 3" cake and expect them to look good tiered. Just because each cake looks beautiful on its own does not mean they will look good together.
#3: For God's sake, cool your cake completely before you fill, stack, and frost it. Freeze it if you must. If you try and rush these things, you will come very close to disaster.
#4: Just throw away the extra frosting unless you already know what you're going to do with it. It will sit there in your fridge using valuable pieces of tupperware and you'll just stare at it until eventually you are tempted to bake something just so you can use the frosting. If this temptation arises, refer to life lesson #1.
#5: Buy more butter than you think any human could possibly use. Of course, this really only applies if you have not learned life lesson #1.
#6: Learn life lesson #1.
*If you do not heed this advice and you end up with about a dozen surplus cupcakes, send them to work with someone. After a few times of doing this you will be dubbed "The Cupcake Fairy" by their coworkers and who doesn't want that title?
